Live Nativity Pageant

Prepare to be touched by the true gift of Christmas!

The “Live Nativity” will be Sunday, December 6, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Come see and hear the Biblical story of the birth of Jesus. Spanish language versions will be held at 5:20 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. Each presentation will close with a Christmas carol. Animals include sheep, a donkey, and a cow and a llama. Inside the parish hall, have fellowship with cocoa & cookies, hot dogs & chili while the children play and do Christmas crafts. In case of bad weather, activities will be held in the church.

100% of donations will be split between Rantoul Food Pantry, Crisis Nursery, and Habitat for Humanity. Thrivent grant funding will be used to offset the following out of pocket expenses: Animal Rental, Posters, copies, mailing, local signage, Food (chili, hot dogs, buns, hot chocolate, etc); Material and trim for costumes, Material for a float in Rantoul’s fall parade; Materials for kids indoor activities.

Heavenly Christmas Tree – Dec 5 – Rantoul

We are again supporting A Christmas party held on December 5th for children from low income families – given at American Lutheran Church hosted by volunteers from our community. Families must be registered at the community center and meet financial guidelines for poverty level. Funds will be used to provide a lunch, gift and to purchase socks and other items for the children’s Christmas bag. each bag has an outfit and toys.

Supported by American Lutheran Church in Rantoul in cooperation with several other churches, this project has happened for the past several years.

Champaign Chapter Election Dinner

On Sunday, November 8th, we gathered with 173 Thrivent Members in Champaign County to enjoy a social luncheon as well as a presentation by Brian Ames. Many people said how great the luncheon was and how it was good to get together with other Thrivent members in the area and hear what has been happening with the chapter this year.

Thrivent Builds with Habitat George Kiefer presented us with plaques announcing the completion of the Habitat home in Rantoul.

St John Salad Luncheon / Habitat Dedication

A salad luncheon was held before the Thrivent Builds Home dedication. Over $1000 was raised to support Habitat as well as The Jamaican Mission supported by the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and St John.

All God’s Children Garage Sale

Parents, Church members and Staff all donate items for a garage sale held 1/31/2009. All proceeds benefit the preschool. The preschool conducts no other fundraisers, so this provides extra funds to replace old/outdated equipment and teaching supplies. May also be used for classroom remodeling.
